| dc.description.abstract | El Mausoleo de Gala Placidia, con su peculiar ubicación y sus enigmáticos mosaicos, muestra las principales características del arte paleo-bizantino y de los primeros años del cristianismo como religión oficial del Imperio Romano; asimismo, nos permite comprender la conjunción de dos pensamientos y conjuntos de ideas muy diferentes entre sí, como son la religión pagana y la cristiana, siendo el objeto de nuestro estudio un claro ejemplo del paso de una decoración pagana a una cristiana y de la remanencia de algunos iconos y la incorporación de otros nuevos. Así pues, este estudio consiste en la contextualización de este edificio dentro de la línea cronológica del Imperio Bizantino y del arte paleo-bizantino, correspondiente a los inicios del mismo, así como un amplio estudio iconográfico de sus mosaicos y de las diferentes teorías que existen al respecto. Finalmente, tras un completo repaso por las diferentes intervenciones de restauración y, sobre todo, de conservación, trataremos brevemente de mostrar la influencia que ha supuesto este edificio para construcciones posteriores. | ca_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | The Mausoleum of Gala Placidia, with its peculiar location and its enigmatic mosaics, shows the main characteristics of Paleo-Byzantine art and of the early years of Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire; it also allows us to understand the conjunction of two very different mentalities, such as the Pagan and Christian religions, being the object of our study a clear example of the passage from a pagan decoration to a Christian one and of the remanence of some icons and the incorporation of new ones. Thus, this study consists of the contextualization of this building within the chronological line of the Byzantine Empire and the paleo-Byzantine art, corresponding to its beginnings, as well as an extensive iconographic study of its mosaics and the different theories that exist in this regard. Finally, after a complete review of the different interventions of restoration and, above all, of conservation, we will briefly try to show the influence that this building has had on later constructions. | ca_ES |
